October 19, 2009

Both boys are doing great, so far have not been sick.  They are growing so much everyday and they both have their own personality.  Mommy went back to work last week and that has been a very smooth transition with the help from her parents.  Both boys are 10 lbs now.  Just a quick update.

Landon and Luke turn two weeks old today. They are making progress. They are both on oxygen but are both in big boy open cribs. Woohoo! They are still not taking all of their bottles but that just takes time. We are all doing well thanks to our friends and family. Keep the prayers coming!

08/06/09 - Twin Update

Both boys are doing good this morning. Landon has a little blip on his left lung but they thing it may be something to do with the vent. They will do an x-ray when they remove the vent hopefully today. Luke will begin to eat today. They (and us) had a very restful night. It was great to see them doing good. Jana's incision was hurting a little bit this morning for the first time but she got a little meds and is doing much better. Everything is going great.

Our wonderful friend Peggy, lost her husband this week the same day that our beautiful twins entered this world. I think that is God working! We love Peggy so much and our prayers are with her family today. I will be going to the funeral service today while Jana's parents come to stay with her.

More to come soon!

Update 08/05/09

We just got back from seeing the babies. Landon is now on a ventilator. They are planning on taking Luke off the ventilator. Both babies seem to be doing well. Mom is doing well also. We both got sleep last night so that was very nice. More to come soon. Latest picture's. We couldn't really do much with Luke because they are about to take him off ventilator so no pic's of him.

Crazy day - 08/03/09 - Picture included

Jana woke up at 12:30am and headed to the bathroom, I asked if she was ok and she said, "Yes I'm good." Then she called me, "Steven." Well come to find out her water had broke. We went to the hospital and checked and they confirmed that had happened. The doctor want...

08/04/09

Well I never did finish the post from yesterday because Jana got some medicine to help her sleep and it made her hallucinate bad!!! She was talking about Jungles, oceans, and sail boats. I went ahead and sat with her til she fell asleep. The nurses kept coming in every 5 to 10 minutes because the babies kept moving and one of the babies heart rate kept dropping. Dr. Tadvick decided it was time to go ahead and get the babies because it was getting to dangerous. We took about 30 minutes to get from the room to the operating room. At 2:51 Landon James was born, he weighed 4.14 lbs and was 19 inches long. Luke David was born at 2:52 and weighed 4.11 lbs and was 18 inches long. At first Landon did not have to have any assistance but he is now under the hood that is giving him 30 % oxygen. At 2:00 pm, they are going to drop it to 20 breaths a minute and see how he does. Luke is using a ventalator to help him since he is needing some help. Jana is doing great, she had a fainting spell in the shower this morning but I was there to catch her and she is doing better. It just got to stuffy. Everyone is doing great.

We are in room 4720 at Hendricks. Thank you for all the prayers, and keep them coming!

Had an appointment today, tomorrow is 33 weeks

We visited the baby Dr. and Jana's Dr. The babies are doing awesome, so awesome that we don't have to go in for 2 more weeks. They both weight 4.11 lbs. They are 16 to 17 inches long. The Dr. said 10 more days and if Jana goes into labor they wont even try to stop it. (34 weeks) Jana's family is headed to Ruidoso next week (we are both so jealous). It will be a blast for them and we hope they have fun. We are hoping for no excitement next week. Ben and Mia are coming in to help Jana (don't worry not slaves) just to help out with stuff since her mom and dad are gone. Well not much more to post.

32 Weeks, a diaper shower, a baby shower later...

Well last Saturday was a day of surprises. Jana left early for her shower that was at 10:00 at First Baptist Church. She had a great time and we got a lot of really neat stuff. I didn't have much to do so Jon, Wayne, and I were just going to take Kaydence and Ben to Primetime to play some game. We were on the way to Primetime when Jon said that he made a deal with Ben so that Ben could play one game before we bowled. I said, "OK". Well we get to Primetime and Jon told me that Ben wanted to play the Nascar game, so we went over there and I was about to swipe my card when Jon said look over there. Right next to Nascar there is a party room and I saw Kory Okerstrom in there so I whispered, "Happy Birthday" not knowing who's birthday party they were at. Jon then said, "Go in there" and I was like, I'm not going in there I have no idea who's bday party that is. Then Jon said go in there again, so I was like what is the big deal, fine I'll go say hi. Well I walked into the room and was saying hi to Kory when I noticed, him, Kris Gay and some others, then I saw the diapers. Well the surprise was on me, it was a surprise diaper shower for me. I was totally surprised never expected it one bit. So we had cake balls to eat and got some really embarassing pictures of me with my diaper "dooty" tool belt, including tongs, a mask, elastic gloves, protection goggles, diaper powder and many others. Also got a T-shirt that said "Twins run in my family, beware of little feet". So then all of us guys went and bowled and had a good time. It was awesome.

We got lots of good gifts at the shower and we are so thankful for everyone that showed up. The twins are do in 1 month from today at 8:30. 8/28/09 at 8:30 am. Don't worry that is the weekend before Labor day. Can't wait for the boys to be here, they weighted 4.2 lbs and 4.4 lbs at their last weigh in. We go back tomorrow so we will update you soon.

I am having my first shower with my Kindergarten teacher friends this Sat. That will be tons of fun!! :) We are going back to both doctors on June 1st. On Tuesday we went to Stork Vision and had a sonogram and the family got to come and watch...that was so awesome! We got some really awesome pics and a DVD. I will get Steven to post them here so you can see. We are going back to Stork Vision on June 25th for a 4D sonogram...I can't wait! That was my mothers day present...a gift card to Stork Vision. :) We will post more later...I will get him to add the pics and then I will write again after June 1st.

Another Dr. Appointment

We went to see Dr. Tadvick yesterday and we got to hear the babies heartbeats. That was really neat. The babies are healthy and everything is going great! We were hoping for a sonogram so we could SEE but hearing was really awesome too! We have an appointment on May 4th so we should get to find out the sex of the babies and all that fun stuff. We have to wait a little more than 2 weeks but we will survive. :) I am finally over the morning sickness...or so I think...I was lucky enough to get 3 big tubs of clothes from a very nice lady from Wylie so I spent some time this week cleaning out all my "real" clothes and replacing them with the others. I am kinda in between right now but I am thinking it won't be long. :) We will post again when we find out what we are having! :) :)

17 Weeks

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to do a quick post, today we are at 17 weeks.  How exciting!  Jana is feeling the babies move around.  I can't see it, I think it is more like a tingling feeling for her.  Not sure how to explain it.  The baby on the right seems to really like sugar.  When Jana ate cotton candy at the game it was squirming around.  Well gotta run, got work to do.

Steven

PS - We have an appointment next Wednesday.  We will let ya'll know.

Week 13/14 Appointment

Well we had another appointment. Everything was pretty straight forward fairly routine appointment. We did get to hear the babies heartbeats. One of the babies was 158 and the other was 160. In the middle of our appointment the Dr. got called out for a phone call so since we were having to wait we got to do a sonogram. I am so glad because they were so cool!!!

In the following picture the babies heads were right next to each other, I think they are looking right at each other.

Week 13

In this next picture the baby is looking at the sonogram machine, the top right is the baby's head. You can see the eyes, nose and mout, his/her left arm is stick out to the left of the picture. He/She is looking over their left shoulder.

Week 13

It was so exciting. We love Dr. Tadvic he is amazingly nice and funny. We go back in one month to see him once more then we go to Dr. Maybury til closer to our due date. I think he has the better sonogram machine. Hopefully it will let us record the sonogram so I can put it online.

Jana is doing really well she is not getting sick as much maybe once every three or four days now so that has been good. She is starting to show finally, she is so cute! I would post her belly pictures but she doesn't want me to. We will keep everyone up to date.

Genetic Testing Results - IDENTICAL TWINS!!!

Well we got our results back and they confirm that Jon and I are identical twins! I am really excited. The probability of us being identical twins is 99.99999978436%. So we have told people for 29 years now (short of 2 weeks) that we are fraternal twins. Well after 29 years the Dr. was wrong!!! We are identical. My dad summed it up really nicely. If it wasn't possible for you two to be any closer you just got closer. Crazy!!! We are both excited. A biology teacher names Mrs. Bull told Jon and I when we were in high school that she thought the Dr's were wrong and we should get tested well for 3,000 dollars it was to high of a price to pay but we paid 160.00 bucks now and found and we are very excited about it. Guess now we need to go back and tell her she was right all along!

Steven

PS - Another Dr. visit tomorrow to see our twins, we are excited! I can't imagine how much they have grown over a month.

Genetic Testing

Well, we have been reading a lot of books as of late about twins and talking with our doctor and come to find out Jon and I are possibly identical twins. We have been toying with the idea of getting genetic testing done to find out for sure. Well today I got online to see how much it was, I told Jana last night I would be willing to spend 1000.00 bucks to find out. Well I got online and it only cost 160.00 dollars. I ordered the packet this morning and we should get it next week and do the test. We should know for sure by the end of the month if we are in fact fraternal twins or identical twins. If we find out that we are identical we will have to make a special trip to Wylie High School and tell Mrs. Bull she was right all along. We shall know something soon and will let everyone know.

3rd Appointment - Steven

It was so cool seeing the babies move for the first time. The top baby was moving his arms and legs big time. The on on the bottom was moving a little also. It was hard to see the one on bottom because the top one wanted all the face time. It really was crazy seeing the little ones move... it was very moving! Now we have to wait one more month to see our regular doctor and the another month for another sonogram. I am assuming in 2 months we will probably know what the babies are. So make sure you vote if you haven't already. More info coming soon!

3rd Appointment

We went today for our 3rd appointment. :) He said that everything was going great and that both babies were perfect! 3 cm We got to see both heart beats so that was awesome. Both babies were very wiggly today...waving those new arms around. It looked like they were swimming. lol. They really need to calm down before they start kicking me! haha We have to wait a whole stinkin month to go back BUT he did say that anytime I needed anything to call him and we could look again if we needed...I might just do that. :) We are going to NYC on Spring Break and our next appointment is Tuesday after we get back. We are still super super excited about these new additions to our family. We are going to double our family size! :) I cant wait to see them again...

Dr. Appointment #2

Had another Dr. Appointment today at 10:00 am. We had a sonogram and got to see each of the babies. The LEFTT baby is 2.0 cm's. The RIGHT baby is 2.1 cm's. They are both doing great. He says next week they will be around 3.0 cm's. We get to go back next week for more sonogram pictures. I will be posting the sonogram pictures a little later today. Mom is doing good just really sick in the mornings. He says he can't tell right now if the babies are identical or fraternal. He is kinda leaning towards fraternal because the line between the babies seems to be getting thicker but he can't be for sure. Thanks to all who have voted. I added this other vote to our blog to see if it works better, we will see, seems like it loses some votes but who knows. I will post pictures later and try to keep up with this as often as possible.

Twins! - Our God is Awesome!!!

Well, we had our first Dr. Appt. The Dr. came in and said, "Let's see these twins!" He was totally being sarcastic. Right when he started the sonogram, I was watching the screen and saw 2 distinct circles, and I said, "TWINS!!!" Then the Dr. said, "Oh my gosh, it really is twins!" I was so stinkin happy I could barely hold the tears back (been trying to do that all day, sometimes not doing so good with that). He told us that we are about 8 weeks along and the due date for the twins is September 17, 2009, but we would deliver them at 37 weeks since they are twins. That puts it right around August 27th or so. Sorry school for Jana! Mommy is going to miss a little of the beginning of school. We don't know the sex of the babies or if they are identical or fraternal. We have another appointment next Wednesday to get another sonogram. I will put more pictures then. I think about 80% of the people we told today said, "Are you being serious?" YES WE ARE! We are so excited and blessed. More to come soon.

Steven

First Appointment

Well, it's February 4th and we have our first Dr. Appointment. Jana is hoping for a sonogram so I hope we get to do that. I am a little freaked out by looking at a sonogram so early. People tell me it looks like a wierd peanut. Hard to believe I made a peanut.... lol. Well we will definately have more to come after we have the appointment. We are both so excited that God has blessed us with a child.
